Music at Wesley
Director of Music, Geoffrey Urquhart
Geoff Urquhart has been the Director of Music since 1999.
He is valued for his ability to handle a wide range of music very well.
The morning choir takes a major part in worship every second Sunday. It began in 1999, and sings a wide variety of church music, from 16th to 20th century, and from Bach to negro spirituals.
The choir practices each Thursday at 7.00 pm. Choir members find it an open, friendly and welcoming community, as well as a place where members are extended by learning new music. It is currently looking for more tenors and altos, and expressions of interest are invited. Expressions of interest from instrumentalists are also invited.
The evening choir presents once a month, commonly on the 3rd Sunday. It is the original choir, composed mainly of church members. It practices on two Wednesdays each month at 8.00 pm.
The organist, Geoff Urquhart, presents an organ recital every Wednesday at 1.00 – 1.30 pm.
These recitals are open to the public, and are free of charge.
The church has a fine 3-manual pipe organ, and a modern grand piano.
